The 1st. Applied Sport Psychology Conference emerges from a rising trend of the importance of Sports Psychology in the Caribbean. This conference will showcase the pivotal role that Sports Psychologists play in helping to prepare sports personnel for competitions and beyond while working in this unique regional context.
The 1st. Applied Sport Psychology conference of the Caribbean is the vision of Olivia Rose Esperance, Licensed Associate Applied Sports Psychologist practicing in Jamaica for the past decade. The aim of the conference is to establish a platform for the development of research and practice of Sports Psychology within the Caribbean. Sports Psychology is a multidisciplinary field so there will be interactive workshops and presentations from sports psychologists, ,athletes, coaches, researchers, administrators, educators, government officials and sport science practitioners.
ASPCC represents the 1st. of future shared expertise to be held annually with the main objective of improving research and professional practice in sport psychology within the Caribbean. The theme of the conference is "BREAKING BARRIERS, unlocking potential!" Sport Psychologists will also share the unique victories and challenges they have conquered and still are overcoming while practicing in the Caribbean region.
There will be a regional exchange of expertise and discussions geared towards establishing the Caribbean Association of Applied Sport Psychology. The power of performance psychology which links Sports Psychology to business and organizations will also be presented.
